When the Renaissance started there was boom in constructing churches. This boom was caused by the return of the Pope from Avignon in 1377 and the new significance of the return of the Christian Church. The boom lasted for about 200 years and had its peak during the Baroque period. One of the most significant and well known churches ever built, The Sistine Chapel, was also built during this period. This church includes amazing paintings done on the roof of the chapel. These churches are very unique.
